COURSE CONDITIONS 1/31/14

Warmer temperatures have arrived and the melt is on...but will the golf course open this weekend?  In all candor, I doubt it.

As you will see in the images below, much of the snow has melted but a substantial amount remains.  As of my last trip around the golf course to collect these images at 3:00 pm on Friday, only 2 of the greens were completely snow free.  There were 4 greens that I would estimate at less than 25% snow cover.  The other 12 greens?  Between 60% and 90% covered.  Many of the tees and fairways have substantial snow cover as well, especially the shaded holes like 5, 6, 12, 13, 15, and 16.

It seems unlikely that the melting will have advanced far enough to open the golf course on Saturday.  If the melting continues at this pace all day on Saturday, most of the greens will likely be clear by late Saturday.  I do have concerns about the shaded holes but time will tell.

Unfortunately, once the snow has melted, the course will probably require a few days to drain before the conditions are agreeable to opening.

I have been wrong before, but it is not looking good for this weekend.

In the event anything changes, I will update the information on the right side of this page labeled "Golf Course - Quick Update" and the voice line on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
