IRRIGATION PUMP STATION REPAIR

There were divers in your lake yesterday. Not for recreation or to hunt for golf balls (although I sure there are more than a few in there) but to work on your irrigation system. The intake screen for the irrigation pump station had to be replaced. The problem was not so much the screen but the water quality. The screen was doing it's job, filtering the water, but due to the large amount of silt in the lake water, the screen has been slowly clogging over the 7 years since it was installed. With the heavy silt build up, the screen just was not able to supply enough water to the pumps.

It was difficult, exhausting, tedious, and dangerous work for the divers to maneuver such large pieces of equipment in about 8 to 10 feet water with close to zero visibility but, with the aid of air bags to handle the weight, and years of experience, the dive team successfully, and safely, removed the old screen and installed the new unit.

As you can see in the image below, the old, cylindrical screen was almost completely clogged with silt. For the last few months, the irrigation system has only been able to draw enough water from the lake to run the irrigation system at 50% of it's capacity.  That will not be an issue any longer with the new, larger, square unit pictured below. The new unit has larger openings that are small enough to keep out the fish, sticks, turtles, etc. but not so fine as to clog with silt.
