Bermudagrass is not the desired turfgrass in Chantilly National's fairways but we have some. Bermudagrass is a very aggressive and difficult to control weed that is beginning to invade several areas of the golf course. In an attempt to remove the Bermudagrass, those areas have been treated with a selective herbicide.
As some of you may have already noticed, areas in #11 and #13 approaches are beginning to turn white. The "bleaching" affect is both expected and encouraged as it indicates the herbicide application is working.
These areas are fine to play and walk in but will likely be less than aesthetically pleasing for a bit. The area will be seeded and, if all goes as planned, we will take a step forward by knocking the Bermudagrass back.
