FIRST FROST OF 2016

Well, it's that time of year again.  This week we had our first (below image) and second frost of fall 2016.  I guess it was on time as our average first frost date for this area is October 15 but it feels like it was early this year...maybe because we were still hitting 90 degrees throughout September.

Regardless, frost will become a more common occurrence over the next few weeks and with it will come the dreaded frost delay. I am sure most of you (if not all) are aware of the risk of walking on frosted turfgrass but if not, check out this post from 2014 with a very brief and informative video from the USGA on frost and frost delays.
