Regardless of the exact form of winter weather that ultimately materializes, your golf course is ready. Fall fertility has been applied, fungicide applications are up to date, and a host of other tasks aimed at "putting the course to bed for the winter" have been performed. Believe it or not, the hot and humid summer conditions are not the only time of year golf course turfgrass is at risk for fungal attack. Winter weather, especially when there are periods of extended snow and ice cover, can leave the plants susceptible to various fungal pathogens often commonly referred to as snow mold. But, have no fear, your golf course was treated with plant protectant products this week leaving your course prepared for whatever may come.
