After studying the 10 day forecast early in the week I had high hopes of opening the golf course by the weekend...maybe even as early as Friday if we were lucky. It seems the forecast was wrong and the temperatures were not as high as predicted or I was just overly optimistic.
As the pictures below show, most of the snow is gone. As of this afternoon, I would estimate that only 10 to 15% remains. What is left is not really snow any longer but has formed into solid ice. Most of it lies in shaded areas further delaying the melt. Many of the tees and fairways are affected to varying degrees and half of the greens still have pockets of ice and snow.
As always, we will continue to monitor the course daily and make the open/closed call every morning. I am still hopeful that enough melting will occur to open the course soon but, at this time, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
