WHAT A DIFFERENCE A FEW HOURS CAN MAKE

The first image is of #5 green this morning at about 10 am. When the picture was taken, we were on the tail end of rainfall event that dropped an inch of rain in less than 3 hours. The second picture is of #5 Green at 1 pm. Actually, I am fairly pleased with how well your greens drained but they can do better.

Granted, that was a lot of rain in a relatively short period but this really shows how "tight" the surface of the greens are right now.  From mowing, rolling, foot traffic, and rain/snow fall, the greens are very compacted, especially at the surface, and are due for a good aerification and topdressing.

As you are probably aware by now, the greens will be aerified and topdressed next week. The next time we see this type of rain event, I am confident the greens will drain much faster.
