RAIN...FINALLY

This past spring was wet. It rained every few days and in June it seemed as if it would never stop. But the rain did eventually stop and, save a few timely rain events here and there throughout the summer, we have been in a drought since July. Generally, by this time of year, consistent rain can be expected but that just has not been the case this October. We did receive about 2.5" the first weekend of the month which helped, but nothing since...that is until today.

For reference, our average rainfall total for October at Chantilly National over the past 6 years is 6.42" - quite a bit more than the measly 2.5" that fell over the weekend several weeks ago. As the numbers clearly indicate, we are a little behind but today's rain event should help us climb out of the deficit a bit.

The bad news is the golf course is now closed for the day. As you can see in the images below there is standing water on many (actually most) of the playing surfaces.  Our hope to be able to reopen the golf course tomorrow but it is too soon to make that call, especially considering there is more rain on the way this afternoon and overnight. So, as usual, the  golf course conditions will be reevaluated and updated first thing tomorrow morning.
